We are a Non-Profit Organization.
Inspired by founder James Smith’s (CADC, CPSS, WRAP Facilitator, NCI Instructor) personal journey, Resources for Humanity serves as a beacon of hope. Confronted with poverty, substance abuse, and crime growing up in Robeson County, James experienced multiple incarcerations beginning at age 12. Overcoming the grief ignited by witnessing his stepfather’s untimely passing, he found a renewed purpose: to aid young individuals facing similar struggles. With this transformative vision, we aim to provide the necessary support, guidance, and inspiration to help individuals shape their lives toward a brighter future.

James Smith, our founder, began his journey in Robeson County. Born and raised in an area afflicted by poverty and hardship, he turned to drugs and criminal activity as an escape from the harsh realities of life. His troubled behavior led to him being incarcerated multiple times, the first time at the young age of 12. But from these challenging experiences emerged the inspiration to create an organization committed to helping others navigate their way out of similar hostile environments. Thus, Resources for Humanity was born.
